What exactly is "Level 3" security?
Shredding is classified by an internationally recognized classification. Below is an outline of what the various classifications are. Most mobile shredders do not shred to even a Security Level 1.
Recently, there have been demonstrations of software programs that can readily reconstruct shredding that is shredded at lower security levels, especially if it is only strip cut. All secure shredding should be cross-cut at all times.
We will show you samples of why this is important when we come for our first appointment.
Security Level 1
Cross-Cut 3/8" x 1-1/2"~3-1/8" or Strip-Cut 3/8"
For shredding general internal documents.
Security Level 2
Strip-Cut 1/8" or Strip-Cut 1/4"
For shredding sensitive internal documents.
Security Level 3 - Forte shreds to this level, and we only cross-cut
Cross-Cut 1/8" x 1-1/8" or Strip-Cut 1/16"
For shredding confidential documents. (note: the term "confidential" is recognized as a specific security classification).
Security Level 4
Cross-Cut 1/16" x 5/8"
For shredding of secret documents.
Security Level 5
Cross-Cut 1/32" x 1/2"
Approved by the U.S. Department of Defense and the Canadian R.C.M.P. for top secret shredding.
Security Level 6
Cross Cut 1mm x 5mm (approximately 1/26" x 1/5")
The latest security level backed by the U.S. government. Ultra secure shredding for the most sensitive documents.
